kGoal
kGoal makes smart pelvic floor trainers that provide real-time biofeedback (both visual and physical/tactile), measure and track exercise progress over time, and offer customizable, gamified workouts to make sure you get the best exercise possible and that it's fun enough to keep you sticking with a consistent routine. There are both traditional intravaginal-probe based options and a revolutionarily easy-to-use, sit-on-top / no-insertion model called kGoal Boost.
Pelvic Exercise ToolsSummary
kGoal trainers can meet everyone where they're at. kGoal Classic is great for supporting functional exercise and provides the most accurate and precise measurements possible. kGoal Boost's sit-on-top, clothes-remain-on usage is incredibly easy and approachable for those who prefer a non-insertable trainer, and it is also particularly well suited to support Down Training or pelvic floor muscle relaxation practice for those with overactive or hypertonic pelvic floors. All of the trainers provide biofeedback, exercise measurement and tracking, and gamified workouts like Pinball or Shape Shift to keep things interesting.
The process is slightly different depending on which trainer you're using. For kGoal Boost (the sit-on-top, non-insertable version):
1. Charge & Prep
1. Charge & Prep
- Charging: Boost should arrive at least partially charged and ready to go. But you can use the provided USB cable to recharge if needed.
- Download The App: search for "kGoal" in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and install then create your account.
- Turn It On: press and hold the power button until the status light turns on.
2. Get Into Position
- Seat type: You'll need a firm and flat seating surface to use Boost (if there is a lot of padding, it will have trouble sensing your pelvic floor activation). Try to avoid metallic seats to maximize the Bluetooth connection strength.
- Positioning: The blue Air Pillow on Boost should be underneath your perineum. It is normal to experiment with the exact positioning of Boost relative to your body, and with your posture / body position / etc until you find the configuration that works best for you. You can adjust the Sensitivity in the Settings screen of the app if you're having trouble generating enough of a response when you activate your pelvic floor muscles.
3. Connect & Calibrate
- Bluetooth Connection: Open the kGoal app. It should automatically try to connect; if not, you can connect or disconnect manually in the Settings screen of the app. Make sure you have selected kGoal Boost as the device when you installed the app and that Boost is turned on.
- Calibrate: This is very important to make sure Boost is measuring only your pelvic floor activation and not your body weight. If you ever notice that there is biofeedback when you're not actively squeezing your muscles, just relax your pelvic floor, stay still, and briefly press the Calibrate button in the top right corner of the app screen. Note that Boost will auto-calibrate when you select or start a workout and that Calibrate button is only visible after you have selected or started a workout. You can and should recalibrate at any time (including on the fly during a workout) if you notice that there is non-zero biofeedback when you're not squeezing.
4. Start Your Session
- Select A Workout: choose from games like Pinball or more traditional options like the Moving Target sessions
- Follow The Cues: the instructions for each workout will give you the idea in terms of when to squeeze and when to relax during that workout. The visual biofeedback in the app and the physical biofeedback from the device will let you know when and how hard you're activating your pelvic floor.
For kGoal Classic (the traditional intravaginal probe version):
1. Charge & Prep
- Charging: Classic should arrive at least partially charged and ready to go. But you can use the provided USB cable to recharge if needed (the charge port is integrated into the Status Light so you plug the barrel right into the light).
- Download The App: search for "kGoal" in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and install then create your account.
- Turn It On: press and hold the power button until the status light turns on.
2. Get Into Position
- Adjust Inflation: As long as the Squeeze Pillow is not completely deflated, kGoal Classic should be able to measure your pelvic floor activity. You may want to pre-deflate the Squeeze Pillow using the silver metal Comfort Vent before inserting, then re-inflate after it's in position. Or you can pre-deflate to say 50% or 75% inflation before insertion and then not adjust the inflation after.
- Insert: We recommend using water-based personal lubricant. Insert the inflatable Squeeze Pillow into the vagina, leaving the Control Arm (with the button and Status Light) on the outside of the body. Find what is comfortable for you by experimenting with the inflation level as needed.
3. Connect & Calibrate
- Bluetooth Connection: Open the kGoal app. It should automatically try to connect; if not, you can connect or disconnect manually in the Settings screen of the app. Make sure you have selected kGoal Classic as the device when you installed the app and that Classic is turned on.
- Calibrate: This is very important to make sure Classic is measuring only your pelvic floor activation and not the resting pressure applied by your body to the Squeeze Pillow. If you ever notice that there is biofeedback when you're not actively squeezing your muscles, just relax your pelvic floor, stay still, and briefly press the Calibrate button in the top right corner of the app screen. Note that Classic will auto-calibrate when you select or start a workout and that Calibrate button is only visible after you have selected or started a workout.
- Clean Up: After use, wash the device with mild soap and warm water. Do not submerge it or run water directly onto it; it is splash-resistant but not waterproof.
kGoal trainers are high-performance biofeedback systems designed to modernize pelvic floor rehabilitation. Unlike traditional "passive" trainers (like static weights), kGoal trainers are active, responsive tools that use clinical-grade sensors to quantify muscle function.
The Technology:
- kGoal Classic uses a variety of technological innovations:
- 360-Degree Sensing: The core of kGoal Classic is the inflatable Squeeze Pillow. Most trainers use simple pressure plates, but the kGoal uses a 360-degree sensor that detects pressure changes from every angle. This is critical because pelvic floor contractions aren't just an "up and down" movement—they are a complex "lift and squeeze" that varies by individual anatomy.
- Adaptable Fit: Because the pillow is air-filled, it can be inflated or deflated via the "Comfort Vent" to provide a custom fit. This ensures that the sensors are always in direct contact with the muscle walls, regardless of your internal shape, and that you can adjust the effective size/diameter of the probe to optimize comfort.
- Tactile Biofeedback: The device features two vibration motors (one internal, one external). These provide immediate physical confirmation when you’ve successfully engaged the muscle, helping to rewire the brain-muscle connection (proprioception). Note that these motors can be disabled in the app if you prefer to use only visual biofeedback.
- kGoal Boost also has a number of technological innovations:
- Non-insertable Measurement: in contrast to traditional intravaginal probe-based pelvic floor trainers, Boost measures pelvic floor activation externally, with clothes remaining on. This makes it incredibly easy to use and approachable for those who prefer not to use an insertable trainer.
- Down Training Support: the non-insertable usage makes Boost uniquely well-suited to support Down Training (pelvic floor muscle relaxation) practice. This is the other side of the coin from Kegel (strengthening) exercise but is equally important (actually, more important for many people -- such as those with hypertonic or overactive pelvic floors, which can cause pelvic pain or discomfort with vaginal insertion). The kGoal app comes with multiple Down Training and Combined Training workouts.
The Metrics: Strength, Endurance, and Control
kGoal trainers don't just tell you "if" you're squeezing; they measure how you're squeezing across three distinct clinical categories:
- Strength: Measures the "peak" power of your contraction (the "squeeze"). This is essential for preventing leaks during sudden movements like coughing or jumping.
- Endurance: Measures how long you can sustain a contraction before the muscle fatigues. This is vital for overall bladder support throughout the day.
- Control: Measures your ability to "subtly" contract and relax to specific levels (following a moving target). This is often the most neglected area but is key for stabilizing the core and improving intimate health.
Gamified Rehabilitation
One of the biggest hurdles in pelvic health is compliance. Pelvic floor exercises are often boring, leading many to quit. The kGoal app solves this by turning your contractions into a game controller:
- Biofeedback Games: You use your pelvic floor to move a spaceship, play pinball, or hit targets. This makes the 5-minute sessions engaging rather than a chore.
- Down Training: Crucially, the app includes "Down Training" modes. For individuals with hypertonic (overly tight) pelvic floors, learning to fully relax is just as important as strengthening. The kGoal tracks your ability to "drop" the muscle back to baseline.
Clinical Safety & Build
- Material: Made from 100% phthalate-free, body-safe materials.
- Postpartum/Post-Surgical: kGoal trainers are frequently recommended for recovery after childbirth or surgery, though users are advised to wait 6 weeks postpartum and consult a doctor before starting either during pregnancy, immediately postpartum, or post-surgery.
- Data Privacy: The app tracks your "Lifetime Squeeze Count" and progress in various exercise metrics over weeks and months, allowing you to share objective data with a physical therapist if needed.
