Summary

The TensCare Kegel Sure® is a home intravaginal electrical stimulation (IVES) device designed to help women with urge, and mixed urinary incontinence. Using neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES), it gently stimulates the pelvic floor muscles and the nerves involved in bladder control. The device includes four preset programs for different types of urinary incontinence, allowing users to select the program that best matches their symptoms.

Unlike pelvic floor muscle training alone, IVES is intended to improve both muscle activation and neuromuscular control. Current clinical guidelines consider intravaginal electrical stimulation a treatment option for women with overactive bladder (OAB), particularly when bladder training and pelvic floor muscle training alone have not provided sufficient symptom improvement.

Important: Do not use if you have a pacemaker or other implanted electrical device, or if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Consult your healthcare provider before use if you have questions about whether this device is right for you.

  •  Select the Urge (OAB) program.
  •  Increase the stimulation intensity until you feel a strong but comfortable pelvic floor contraction.
  •  Complete one 20-minute session daily (or follow the manufacturer's recommended schedule).
  •  Continue treatment for 8–12 weeks before judging effectiveness.
  •  Combine electrical stimulation with bladder training, urge suppression techniques, and healthy bladder habits for the best chance of success.
  •  Track your symptoms using the PelviZen app.

Overview

What the Research Shows
Clinical studies suggest that intravaginal electrical stimulation may:
  •  Reduce urinary urgency
  •  Decrease daytime urinary frequency
  •  Reduce urge urinary incontinence episodes
  •  Improve bladder control and quality of life
  •  Help women who have difficulty voluntarily contracting their pelvic floor muscles
Most improvements occur gradually over 8–12 weeks of consistent treatment.

How the OAB Program Compares to Current Research

Published clinical studies of intravaginal electrical stimulation for overactive bladder most commonly use:
ParameterClinical LiteratureFrequency | 10–12.5 Hz (occasionally up to 20 Hz)
Pulse Width | 100–300 μs
Intensity | Highest comfortable level
Session Length | 15–30 minutes
Treatment Duration | 8–12 weeks
The TensCare Kegel Sure OAB program is designed around these same neuromodulation principles using a preset stimulation program. Because the stimulation parameters are pre-programmed, users simply select the appropriate program and gradually increase the intensity to the highest comfortable level.

Good to Know
  •  Preset programs eliminate the need to manually adjust stimulation settings.
  •  Comfortable tampon-shaped vaginal probe.
  •  Intensity increases gradually in small increments for comfort.
  •  Automatically remembers your last treatment program.
  •  Tracks total treatment sessions for progress monitoring.
  •  Open-circuit safety technology automatically resets stimulation if the probe loses contact.

Important
Do not use this device if you:
  •  Have a pacemaker or other implanted electrical medical device.
  •  Are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
  •  Have an active pelvic infection or unexplained vaginal bleeding unless cleared by your healthcare provider.

PelviZen Perspective

The TensCare Kegel Sure is one of the better-designed home intravaginal electrical stimulation devices because it includes a dedicated OAB (urge) program rather than requiring users to guess which settings to use. While current evidence supports intravaginal electrical stimulation as a treatment option for overactive bladder, it is generally recommended alongside first-line therapies such as bladder training and pelvic floor muscle training, rather than as a replacement for them. Consistent use over several weeks is typically needed before meaningful improvements are seen.
